With 70% of learning taking place in real-life on-the-job experience, it is very important for organisations to ensure that that their corporate learning environment supports informal and social learning activities. With this in mind, the idea of Totara Social came about.
Totara Social is a burgeoning learning platform that lets you get social with your learning, and this is what Yuliya Bozhko, team lead on the Totara Social project, will share when she presents at the 2015 Moodle-Mahara Meetup (#MMMup).
Totara Social complements TotaraLMS (a Moodle-based learning management system for organisations) with its workplace training focus.
Being built on Mahara ePortfolio system, which already has some powerful tools for creating and sharing content as well as integration layer with Moodle/Totara LMS, the Totara Social project aims at improving and adding various elements of social networking to the platform to better support social learning.
Totara Social was released in September 2014 and is currently being successfully trialed by the Totara Partner Network. While early feedback is quite promising, it is still a very young platform with a lot of improvements underway.
Join Yuliya at the 2015 Moodle-Mahara Meetup on 16 April 2015 at University of South Australia, City West Campus, Adelaide to hear about how this powerful social learning total is supporting the 70 20 10 organisational learning model.
Call for proposals to present or facilitate a workshop close on 2 February 2015.
“2015 Moodle-Mahara Meetup” will also be followed by an “Australian Mahara Users Group – Do we need one? Coffee Meeting” on the morning of Friday 17 April in Adelaide. Click here if you would like to know more about this coffee meeting and/or register to attend.
