2015 Moodle-Mahara Meetup – Save the date and call for proposals

2015 Moodle-Mahara Meetup will be held on 16 April 2015 at the University of South Australia, City West Campus, Adelaide.

Why attend Moodle-Mahara Meetup?

2015 Moodle-Mahara Meetup (#MMMup) will help usthink outside the box when using open source software systems: Moodle learning mancropped-moodle-mahara-meetup-banner.jpgagement system and Mahara eportfolio system in education and training.

Keynote presentations and case studies through posters, short presentations, workshops and panel sessions will enable a variety of perspectives to be shared from Australia and beyond.

2015 Moodle-Mahara Meetup aims to help educators, educational designers, and learning and development managers think out of the box through better integration of Moodle and Mahara or Mahoodle.

Other Mahoodle integrations which support effective online learning and assessment, such as Open Badges, learning analytics, and the Experience API (xAPI), will also be discussed.

This includes the showcasing of the new ‘ExperienceUp’ mobile app which will be released in 2015. ExperienceUp, an open sourced mobile app, is the next generation of the PortfolioUp mobile app. This free mobile app will allow iOS mobile device users to upload images and video to their Mahara account.

Pledge to support the development of ExperienceUp

You can help contribute to the development of this app by contributing to the Pozible crowdfunding happening at the moment. The developers, Brightcookie.com, only need another $AUS3,000+ to reach their $AUS16,000 target – so do your bit and pledge anywhere between $2 and $2,500 now.

Do we need an AMUG?

Open source software systems like Moodle and Mahara require the input and support of their users. The original Mahara User Group (MUG) was established by a group of people from New York State Institutions looking to improve Mahara for their users.  Other such groups have now been established in Europe and New Zealand, so this leads to the question – do we need an Australian Mahara User Group (AMUG)?

To test this out, interested folk are also invited to attend an AMUG meeting on 17 April (following MMMup) from 10.00 am to 12 noon (ACST).  The venue is yet to be confirmed.

What should you do now?

Consider sharing your Mahoodle experiences by presenting a poster, doing a presentation or facilitating a workshop by submitting a proposal now.  Call for proposals closes on 2 February 2015.
